ANIE ALERTE

chanson, rasin, kompa

Anie Alerte Joseph was born in Haiti's North, with roots in Cap-Haïtien and Les Perches, while Port-au-Prince became one of the cities that shaped her public voice. She began singing in church as a child, won a singing contest at eleven, and entered national consciousness when she placed second in Digicel Stars in 2008. Podium Écoliers, Défi Lycéens des Caraïbes, and the 'Haïti, Cœur de Femme' project then placed her in a line of Haitian singers who bring vocal technique, stage presence, and social message together.

Anie Alerte's music does not fit neatly into one box. There are love songs, ballads, touches of chanson, rasin, konpa-pop, and a theatrical sense in how she delivers words. 'Mal' became a major marker because it gives pain, attacks, intimidation, and resistance a direct musical form. 'Kite Yo', 'Come Back', 'Ase Klik', 'Ou Pa t Janm Renmen m', and 'Parle Moi' continue the same line: a voice that can sound fragile, but is always looking for dignity and control.

In her newer chapters, especially around the Zile movement, Anie is trying to rebuild her image beyond individual singles. She emphasizes endurance, stage work, and the presence of a Haitian woman able to pass through controversy, hurt, religion, vocal training, and public pressure without stopping the song.
