Ansy & Yole Derose
chanson
Ansy Dérose (Arntz Dérose, 1934-1998) was a poet, composer, and performer born in Port-au-Prince. He began singing young under French voice professor Mme Elisabeth Mahy. In 1970, his song 'Maria' won 3rd trophy at the First World Festival of Song in Mexico. The album 'Anakaona' propelled him internationally. In 1976, he discovered in his wife Yole Ledan Dérose (born April 5, 1955) a remarkable voice. Their first duet 'Merci' debuted at the 5th International Festival in Puerto Rico in 1979. After Ansy's passing in 1998, Yole continued a solo career across the Caribbean, North America, and Europe.
