BigO
rabòday
BigO is the recording name of Michel-Olivier Martelly, a Haitian artist and producer whose sound combines Caribbean pop and Haitian konpa. He founded BigO Productions in 2007 to write and produce music, in a family where music was already a language: his father is Sweet Micky, while Dro and Yani Martelly are his brothers.
His 2016 single « On s'prend pas la tête » with Top Adlerman is the clearest entry point in the HaitiDJ catalog. Its video was filmed in Port-au-Prince, and the title argues for a more positive approach to problems. Streaming catalogs also present it as a Big O–Top Adlerman collaboration.
BigO enters Haitian music through a path where artist work, production, and collaboration move together. He works across konpa, Caribbean pop, R&B, reggae, and dance rhythms, at the intersection of HMI, diaspora production, and Caribbean radio.
