Dadou Pasquet

kompa

André "Dadou" Pasquet (1953–2025) was a Haitian guitarist, singer, and bandleader. He played with Tabou Combo in the early 1970s before founding Magnum Band in Miami with his brother Claude "Tico" Pasquet in the middle of that decade. The Miami Herald recalled how Magnum Band kept the Haitian diaspora connected to home through a blend of konpa, jazz, and other Caribbean rhythms. With Magnum, as a solo artist, and through collaborations, Dadou Pasquet placed his guitar and voice at the center of konpa. *Islam...*, released by Melodie Makers in 1993, is one chapter of that solo work. Discographical listings place "Oupila" fourth on side B; the French National Library documents it as a Dadou Pasquet performance running 5 minutes 37 seconds. "Oupila" is the Dadou Pasquet track already verified in HaitiDJ. The recording dates from 1993 even though the upload is from 2010, and the entry follows the album *Islam...* album. Pasquet died in November 2025 at age 72.
