Dzine
kompa
D'Zine was a kompa band from the late-1990s Florida scene. Historical sources identify Gazzman Pierre ‘Couleur’, Arly Larivière, and Felder Antoine as its founding members in 1997. Built from former Zenglen Plus and Kazak Eksperans musicians, the band remains an important chapter in new-generation kompa.
D'Zine matters especially as the place where Arly and Gazzman worked together before Nu-Look. After internal conflicts at D'Zine, the two artists formed Nu-Look together in 2000. Gazzman left Nu-Look in 2010 to form Disip; it was not a group formed directly after D'Zine. ‘Saint Jacques’ and ‘La vie en exil’ retain the band’s presence in this catalogue through live recordings.
