Rayy Raymond
kompa, zouk, rnb
Rayy Raymond, born Henry Robert Junior Raymond, was born in Pétion-Ville in 1992 and became one of the voices bringing a soul color into 2010s konpa. Educated in Pétion-Ville and trained through ENARTS, he began in a rap group before moving more clearly into konpa, zouk, R&B, production, and sound engineering. That gives him a full artist profile: he does not only perform; he understands how sound is built.
His career accelerated with 'Absans Ou' in 2016, a song that introduced many listeners to what he defines as compas soul: more intimate, softer, more vocal konpa with stronger R&B influence. 'Mwen Pare' then made that signature clearer. Rayy Raymond does not approach konpa like the large bands that first chase dance-floor energy; he looks for a space where feeling, melody, voice, and sound quality become central.
'Mwen Pare', 'Ou Make Vi Mwen', and related songs show an artist speaking to romance listeners while looking for more than an easy hook. He works in the language of emotion: absence, readiness for love, choice, loyalty, and the spirituality of relationships. In that sense, he belongs to the line of HMI singers who soften konpa without removing its dance roots.
Rayy Raymond matters because he shows how the new konpa generation has become more studio-conscious. He brings voice, production, and soul color together, opening a path for artists who do not need a large band to make contemporary Haitian music travel.
