TOBY ANBAKÈ

rap-kreyol, hip-hop, rnb

Toby Anbakè, born Owen Martinez Fava, is a Haitian rapper, singer, musician, and songwriter. He was born in Port-au-Prince on November 3, 1990, and grew up in Cap-Haïtien, where music entered his life early. At school he played drums in the marching band and sang, giving him a broader profile than a studio-only rapper: he understands rhythm, instruments, voice, and writing.

After more than a decade of work, he reached an important point in 2025 with the double rap project Rien À Perdre (RAP), presented in two versions: Nothing to Lose and Still Nothing to Lose. The project matters because it gives long-form shape to his experience, using Creole rap, melody, and modern production to tell stories about ambition, pressure, and artistic choice.

'Le Génie' is one of the tracks that brought Toby Anbakè into the Top 40 conversation. The song carries an image of confidence and precision, but it also belongs to a Haitian rap tradition where name, street presence, competition, and personal identity all matter. In a scene where many artists mix rap, kompa, afrobeat, and R&B, Toby keeps a tone centered on writing and vocal presence.

His value comes from that position between generations. He has musician roots, long experience, and a push to carry Creole rap forward at a time when Haitian audiences follow artists through YouTube, digital albums, and interview culture. Toby Anbakè brings a Cap-Haïtien/Port-au-Prince voice that keeps the rap local while searching for a wider form.
