Noel Sans Lune
by Coupe Cloue · 2013 · twoubadou · 7:04 · Haitian Creole, French
“Noël Sans Lune” places a holiday often associated with light beneath a sky missing its moon. This Coupé Cloué copy was uploaded in November 2013 and runs beyond seven minutes. The title creates melancholy without explaining every story detail: Christmas arrives, but a source of light or a presence is absent. Twoubadou guitar, kompa manba, percussion, and Coupé’s spoken singing give that contradiction time to develop. He uses popular language and simple images to open several meanings. Here, celebration does not erase darkness; music lets both live together.
