This Love
by DARLINE DESCA · 2024 · kompa · 3:18 · Haitian Creole, French
Darline Desca chooses an English title for “This Love,” but her voice remains in a kompa space able to speak across audiences. Those two words do not say whether the love is easy, difficult, new, or already past. They simply point toward it, as though one particular relationship could not be confused with another. The official 2024 visualizer lasts three minutes and eighteen seconds, a form that keeps the idea tight. With no guest or subtitle added on Desca’s channel, attention rests on the personal presence she gives the short English phrase and on the way kompa rhythm moves the emotion instead of leaving it as a static declaration.
