Something going on - Kompa Gouyad Extended Mix
by Kaysha · 2020 · kompa · 5:09 · Haitian Creole, French
Kaysha calls this version the “Kompa Gouyad Extended Mix,” and the name accurately describes its musical work: “Something Going On” is lengthened to give bass, cadence, and gouyad motion more room. The Congolese-French artist is not Haitian, but this 2020 recording shows kompa-gouyad circulating among the Caribbean, Africa, and the diaspora. With more than thirty million views on Kaysha’s channel, it is a major meeting point between an international audience and Haitian rhythm as handled by an artist accustomed to crossing zouk, kizomba, and Afropop.
