“Travay” is a 2016 carnival recording that joins Fred Hype and Barikad Crew in the same source. Across nearly six and a half minutes, the production must carry multiple MCs, slogans, and street energy without breaking forward movement. Fred Hype’s role as a beatmaker becomes especially clear: he organizes the pressure so voices can strike, the crowd can answer, and Kreyol rap can move through the carnival route. For Barikad Crew, the track continues a tradition in which rap leaves the underground and occupies one of Haitian music’s largest public spaces.
