Reponn Prezan
by MASS KONPA · 2019 · kompa · 5:13 · Haitian Creole, French
Gracia Delva and Mass Konpa place “Reponn Prezan” in an official video from February 2019. The phrase comes from roll call: when a name is called, someone announces their presence. Across more than five minutes of kompa, that declaration becomes an image of availability, pride, or loyalty without metadata confining it to one story. Gracia’s voice is built for a large response, while keyboards, bass, drums, and bal cadence confirm the message. The song does not merely say he is present; the band’s machinery makes presence audible and physical in the room.
