Bif feat. Mickael Guirand
by Kenny Haiti · 2024 · kompa · 4:52 · Haitian Creole
Bif is a word borrowed out of hip-hop and dropped into a kompa arrangement, and the borrowing is the interesting part — a conflict song that keeps the floor clean enough to dance on. Kenny Haiti and Mickael Guirand approach it from different generations, and neither is cast as the aggressor, so the friction stays between two positions rather than between a wronged man and a guilty one. Guirand's control and Kenny's directness do not blend so much as hold their corners. Five minutes, and the arrangement never picks a side either.
