Fo'm alé
by Mickael Guirand · 2018 · kompa · 5:31 · Haitian Creole, French
Mickael Guirand released “Fò m Ale” through his own channel in May 2018. The title does not say he would like to leave; it says departure is necessary. In VAYB’s early years after the Carimi chapter, such a phrase carries transition without this description forcing biography into lyrics. Across more than five and a half minutes, Mickael’s voice and kompa give the decision time to move from pain toward motion. Leaving may mean a relationship, place, or situation, while cadence shows departure is not always still. Sometimes the body continues before the mind understands every reason.
