Mayday

Mayday is a distress call borrowed from an entirely different vocabulary, and VAYB carry it inside an arrangement that stays elegant from end to end. That is the tension: romantic urgency stated over a band sound that never loses control for a second. Mickael Guirand's voice stays central, where it always is, and the arrangement gives the song a modern cleanness without cooling it. Five minutes, and the record never shouts — it lets the word do the shouting for it.
