5 Kontinan
by Zenglen · 2020 · kompa · 13:45 · Haitian Creole, French
“5 Kontinan” announces a worldwide scale in its title, and Zenglen gives that idea nearly fourteen minutes of kompa in which to unfold. The recording appeared on the band’s channel in August 2020, with Haitian Creole and French vocals inside a form closer to a sustained performance than a compact single. The title suits a group heard across the diaspora without requiring an invented travel story. What is clear is the breadth: duration, orchestra, and cadence work together to give the track its reach.
