Fidel
by Zenglen · 2022 · kompa · 7:30 · Haitian Creole, French
Fidèl is the song that made Zenglen one of the major names of the 1990s, and by the band's own account, faithfulness there was not only a romance theme: it was a mission statement for a group trying to modernise kompa. This version runs seven minutes thirty — the longest Zenglen track in this catalog — and reached the Topic channel on 13 July 2022 with Michaëla. A nearly thirty-year-old song given seven minutes is a band refusing to cut its own history.
