Teke Lawo
by Kreyol La · 2021 · kompa · 3:28 · Haitian Creole, French
“Teke Lawo” is track six on Kreyol La's 2021 album Emotion, and the video title credits G-Dolph. The kompa track lasts three minutes and twenty-eight seconds, a tight form for a band accustomed to large stages and carnival. The record does not explain “teke lawo” well enough for this page to impose a translation, so the lyrics remain the guide. What is clear is a meeting between a group emerging from the Konpa Kreyòl network and a guest giving the hook or verse another presence within the Emotion chapter.
