Marry Me
by Mikaben · 2021 · kompa, kompa-gouyad · 3:36 · Haitian Creole, French
“Marry Me” places an English marriage proposal inside Mikaben’s voice on a recording released in March 2021. Across three and a half minutes, kompa-gouyad brings the request into dance, while his delivery carries the warmth and openness of an artist moving through Creole, French, English, gospel, pop, and twoubadou. The title is direct, but a proposal always carries questions of future, commitment, and shared life. Mikaben needs no long story; melody, rhythm, and address give three words the weight of a decision.
