Abandon
by Orchestre Septentrional · 2020 · kompa · 5:32 · Haitian Creole, French
Orchestre Septentrional was founded in Cap-Haïtien on 27 July 1948, which makes it one of the oldest musical institutions in the Caribbean. Abandon reached the streaming catalogue in 2020 through a Topic channel, meaning an archive moving rather than a release. What is preserved is the band's melodic pacing: five minutes thirty-two that do not hurry because they were never built to. An orchestra with seventy years behind it does not adapt itself to a format — the format comes to it.
