Fidelite
by Orchestre Septentrional · 2020 · kompa · 6:30 · Haitian Creole, French
Orchestre Septentrional published “Fidélité” through its own channel in May 2020. The title names an important relationship value, but it also sounds like a principle for an orchestra founded in Cap-Haïtien in 1948 and carried across generations. Over six and a half minutes, voice, horns, guitar, bass, drums, and big-orchestra discipline give loyalty a collective form. Septent survives not because one musician remains, but because method, repertoire, and ensemble instinct pass onward. The song lets romantic meaning and institutional history live beside one another.
