Durkheim

chanson

Durkheim, born Durkheim Elqueby Louis II Marcellus, is a Haitian artist associated with Delmas and Croix-des-Bouquets in different sources. Coverage of his path presents him as a young voice active since 2018, with early songs such as 'Bagay yo vire nan men m', 'Banm Chans Mwen', and 'Salut b', before the Wendyyy collaboration 'Lento' opened a wider door. After that, 'Kow Kow' became an entry point into a world where romance, absence, apology, and melancholy phrases carry much of the weight.

He works between kompa-pop, Caribbean R&B, soul, pop, and melody-first songwriting built for digital listening. 'Tous Ces Détails', his first album, was released on September 28, 2024 with 15 tracks on DKO Records. The project includes 'x1998x', 'Khiumy', 'Two Faces', 'Kite w La', 'Et Si', 'Bill Sou Bill', 'STK (Sou Tout Kò n)', 'Kow Kow', 'Aidez Moi', 'Yon Dènye Fwa', 'Smile', 'Plan B', 'Assez', 'Tous Ces Détails', and 'Gone' with GINO KSK.

The catalog shows a quick evolution: from videos and singles that took time to find their place to an album where TikTok, YouTube, streaming, and the Haitian community in Canada all move together. Durkheim studies civil engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke, and many of his songs grow out of that student space, between distance from home, romantic disappointment, and a desire to return and contribute to Haiti.

Durkheim is compelling because he places Haitian feeling over production that works naturally in the streaming era. He does not always need the full structure of a kompa band to make a song hold; he uses voice, melody, video imagery, and an intimate tone to show how a new HMI generation moves between kompa, R&B, Caribbean pop, and emotional language built to be shared.
