Alan Cavé sings “J'ai Besoin De Toi” in French, but the way he places its central phrase over the rhythm belongs fully to the kompa love and zouk vocabulary he developed across decades. This 2015 version approaches six minutes, so the need announced in the title never passes as a hurried declaration. His voice stays light and close, allowing melody to do much of the emotional work. The language shift does not remove the track from Cavé’s Haitian world; it shows French, Creole, English, kompa, and zouk sharing one diaspora catalog.
