Yereswa
by Alan Cavé · 2015 · kompa, zouk · 5:13 · Haitian Creole, French
The Creole phrase “Yè swa,” last night, opens a door onto memory: something happened after dark, and the song returns once the moment has passed. Alan Cavé released this version through his channel in 2015, giving his voice and the kompa-zouk cadence more than five minutes to remain inside that reflection. He never needs to force the emotion; his gentle timbre makes retrospect sound like a private confession. Alongside his French and Creole recordings, “Yereswa” shows how ordinary language becomes memorable romance in Cavé’s hands.
