Is It Real?
by Nu-Look · 2015 · kompa · 6:43 · Haitian Creole, French
“Is It Real?” places doubt at the center of Nu-Look’s romantic kompa. The Topic version bearing Arly Larivière’s name dates to 2015 and stretches beyond six and a half minutes, a scale suited to melodies that take their time and bass lines that move the body gently. Arly works as singer, songwriter, producer, and keyboardist, giving the band’s sound an unusually unified signature. The English title opens toward a broad audience, while Haitian Creole and French vocals keep the track within HMI’s emotional world.
