1er Janvier
by Orchestre Septentrional · 2018 · kompa · 5:03 · Haitian Creole, French
“1er Janvier” gives Orchestre Septentrional a date carrying two meanings in Haiti's calendar: the opening of a new year and the anniversary of national independence. The band uploaded the video on December 29, 2018, just before its title date, and the kompa recording lasts five minutes and three seconds. This page does not decide which ceremony or message the lyrics choose, but it recognizes the date's weight. As an institution serving Cap-Haïtien memory, Septent can let celebration, history, and dance move together without one displacing another.
