Fidélité
by Orchestre Septentrional · 2020 · kompa · 5:15 · Haitian Creole, French
“Fidélité” fixes Orchestre Septentrional at Plage Bord de Mer de Limonade in a 2020 video lasting five minutes and fifteen seconds. The French title concerns loyalty, a value carrying different weight from an orchestra that had already served its audience for more than seventy years. The seaside location makes the page a performance document rather than placeless audio. Horns, voices, and kompa groove carry commitment into open air. The lyrics must say whom the fidelity serves; Septent's history also makes staying faithful sound like an institutional method.
