Fè Chèlbè
by Orchestre Septentrional · 2022 · kompa · 9:51 · Haitian Creole, French
Orchestre Septentrional takes “Fè Chèlbè” onto the 2022 carnival street for nine minutes and fifty-one seconds. The expression concerns style, appearance, and showing oneself, but a big orchestra can widen that gesture from one person to the whole band's presence. Horns, voices, bass, and drums have time to enter in sequence, return to the hook, and keep the crowd moving along the route. Unlike Nu-Look's tighter version, this page documents chèlbè as a public, collective action within the carnival season.
