Gabel

kompa

Gabel is a konpa band shaped by the Miami/HMI circuit, with a major public debut on January 27, 2007 at Marabou Café. Haitian Music Archive places the founding lineup around Katalog (Vladimyr Etienne), Money-G, T-Lunet, and Fanfan Epav, with Patrick Fabre in a management role. Flav (Athlet St. Fleur) joined in 2008 around 'Ou Se Melodie', and T Pachou (Jean Ernst Lafortune) arrived in 2010 for the 'Gon Jan Pou Ye' era.

Gabel matters because it has sustained a diaspora konpa-love lane that audiences can adopt quickly: smooth vocals, direct hooks, many videos, and a sense of charm that works in dances, weddings, radio, and playlists. The band is not trying to sound like a roots act or an experimental project. Its strength is clean, readable, immediate sentimental kompa, where singers can turn a love phrase into a public slogan.

The discography shows how Gabel built its following in stages. 'A3' set the base. 'Jenou Sou Jenou' and 'Gon Jan Pou Ye' expanded the presence. 'Anyen Pa Etènèl', 'Kenbe Yes Ou', and 'Beni' show a band continuing to serve audiences with relationships, hurt, pride, and celebration. 'Ou Se Melodi', 'Aba X', 'Sex Friend', 'Boule Lè a', 'Solo Mio', 'Paka Fe Pitit', and 'Beni' show how Gabel turns romance into an identity.

Gabel is a clear example of kompa moving between Haiti, Miami, New York, Montreal, Paris, and other Haitian communities without losing HMI's sentimental language. The band also matters because it shows how a group that is not always at the center of scandal can last: consistency, hooks, a clean image, and a faithful relationship with dance-band audiences.
