Fem Voye
by Joe Dwet File · 2022 · kompa, zouk · 4:31 · Haitian Creole, French
Fem Voye puts Joé Dwèt Filé in one of his strongest modes: diaspora romance, a clean hook, and a balance between smooth kompa and modern zouk. What makes it work is the language. He moves between Kreyòl and French inside the same verse without either one sounding like a translation of the other, which is close to a description of his whole position — a Montreuil upbringing of church, gospel, family kompa and French urban pop, arriving at a sound that reaches Haiti and Paris on the same terms. It was released in December 2022 and runs about four and a half minutes.
