Joé Dwèt Filé takes romantic hurt and gives it pop dimensions — a smooth hook, a zouk frame, no wasted bars — at a running time built for the French charts rather than a Caribbean dance set. This is the 2018 version of the artist, before the Kreyòl side of his writing moved to the front. He had already spent years writing, producing and engineering for other people, and the economy here is what that work teaches.
