Jacomel by RAM

Jacomel

RAM calls this track “Jacmel,” with “Jacomel” used in the catalog file, in an official video from June 2016 lasting beyond eight and a half minutes. The southern city’s name carries histories of art, carnival, architecture, and seaside life, but the recording need not become a travel guide. Drums, guitar, bass, voice, and RAM’s roots-rock sound bring place into music as memory and presence. The band often joins city, Vodou ritual, and politics in one performance. Here, repeating the name lets Jacmel live as an emotional destination as much as a point on a map.
