Ram Kanaval 2008 Defile
by RAM · 2008 · rasin · 7:27 · Haitian Creole, French
“Defile” takes RAM’s sound beyond the Hotel Oloffson courtyard and puts it into the movement of Haiti’s 2008 carnival. The recording exceeds seven minutes, allowing drums, vaksen horns, guitar, bass, and roots energy to function as a public march rather than a radio single. Its name already supplies the action: moving through the street, declaring presence, and advancing bodies and rhythm together. RAM does not use roots as decoration here. Carnival structure brings ceremonial rhythm and the band’s rock force into direct contact with the crowd.
