Dous Pou Dous comes from TOU9, and it behaves like an album track in the best sense: less concerned with landing immediately, more willing to let romance, groove and phrasing take their turns. Roody Roodboy is less confrontational here than on the singles that built his reputation, but the rhythmic signature is unchanged — the same insistence underneath, applied to tenderness instead of pressure. Five minutes on a record with nothing to prove to a radio programmer. Whatever else TOU9 was, it gave him room to be gentle without anyone reading it as a retreat.
