Roody Roodboy, born Roody Pétuel Dauphin in Port-au-Prince on June 27, 1988, grew up in the Cité Militaire area. Biographical sources place his musical beginning after a personal shock: his father's death during Haiti's 2004 political upheaval, followed by guitar lessons from his uncle Mario Dauphin in 2005. That makes his public image more than showmanship; it comes from a young man using music to recover, find a voice, and enter public life.

Digicel Stars opened the door. He reached the top ten finalists in 2008, returned in 2010, and took third place. After that stage, he moved from contest talent to a solo artist who could speak the language of Port-au-Prince street life, young romance, and carnival energy through the same persona. 'Tranble' became one of his major rise moments, and the 2015 new-artist recognition helped place him near the center of rap kreyol and Haitian pop.
