Blese
by VANESSA DÉSIRÉ · 2019 · kompa · 3:58 · Haitian Creole, French
“Blese” gives Vanessa Désiré one short word with which to enter pain without much decoration. The official video arrived in May 2019 and runs nearly four minutes, keeping her voice at the center of a contemporary kompa setting. Vanessa has built her catalog between R&B, kompa, Kreyol rap, and modern balladry; here, melody keeps vulnerability clear without costing the singer her position. The title does not say who is wounded or how it happened. That open space lets listeners bring their own experience into the refrain.
