Crush La feat. Wendyyy
by Vanessa Desire · 2022 · kompa, rnb · 4:06 · Haitian Creole
A crush is a small subject, and Crush La treats it at full production scale — smooth vocals, a pop-facing kompa frame, and a rap verse from Wendyyy that enters without breaking the softness around it. That restraint is the interesting choice; the easy version of this record lets the feature puncture the mood. Vanessa Désiré has been making that kind of decision since she was sixteen, when a second place on Digicel Stars put her in front of a national audience before she had a catalogue to stand on. Four minutes, no hurry, nothing oversold.
