Map Marye
by Klass · 2019 · kompa · 5:00 · Haitian Creole, French
“M'ap Marye” announces a decision rather than asking a question. Klass, founded in 2012 by Jean Hérard Richard after he left Zenglen, gives that declaration a five-minute kompa form. The maestro discipline shows in an arrangement that never rushes: every instrument has its place and the voice stays forward. A song about marriage enters people's lives differently — it stops being only a record and becomes an occasion people use.
