Boat People Blues

“Boat People Blues” places migration by sea and the blues form inside one English title. RAM released this video in June 2020 across four minutes and forty-five seconds of Haitian roots music. “Boat people” carries a heavy history of Haitians and others taking to sea under pressure, while blues gives pain and testimony musical structure. This page invents neither a journey nor a specific person. RAM's drums, electric guitar, chants, and bass can connect migration pain with collective memory, making the sea sound like a space of hope, danger, and loss at once.
